SMASH is the annual ART PARTY at the Gardiner Museum, conceived by the Young Patrons Circle. The name SMASH highlights the tension between the Museum as a space of conservation, but also of contemporary art and live creativity. It's been highlighted by the National Post, The Globe and Mail, FASHION Magazine, and other top media outlets as one of the city's most exciting annual cultural events.
As the Artistic Director for SMASH, I wanted to present an art program to share impressions of our collective expansive nature. More than 20 artists contributed creative works to the three floors of the globally renowned Museum. We featured outdoor projections, ceramic creations, large scale sculpture, rare plant installations, interactive works and AR. SMASH: We Are More was a sold out event in June 2018. This beautiful marquis event was made possible cultural industry partnerships with Montréal’s Massivart, graduates the School of Design at George Brown College, and live performances with artists from Sony Music Canada. Special thanks to Arthur Gaillard, Philippe Demers, Natasa Hansen, Gunnar Floral, Graham Teeple, Justin Broadbent, Jeroen Dijkstra, Jon Todd, Eli Swartz, Camille Jodoin-Eng, Maryam Keyhani, Dasha Valakhanovitch, Erica Chang, Dre Ngozi.
